Congress Hotel Van Der Valk – Mons

Construction of a four stars hotel in Mons, next to the Congress Centre, composed of two main wings mainly consisting in:

  • Wing 1: 126 rooms, 1 apartment, 1 fitness room, offices and 4 service areas, all of this is spread across 5 levels (ground floor and 4 floors).
  • Wing 2: 1 restaurant, 1 gaming room, 2 bars, 9 meeting rooms, changing rooms, sanitary and technical rooms.

The central area includes the main lobby and the reception area.

The engineering office’s assignments are centered on electricity, sanitary and HVAC.

 

The characteristics and specific elements studied are described underneath:

 

Energy: Full energy modeling of the building leading to K32 performance.

HVAC: Hot water production through a condensing gas boiler.

Heat and cold production through a VRV geothermal heat pump and a VRV air/air heat pump.

Sanitary: Cold water distribution in hopper and false ceilings; wastewater drainage by gravity; installation and connection of the sanitary appliances; firefighting by indoors axial feed reels and outdoor fire hydrants.

Electricity: 800 KVA high voltage transformer cabin; fire detection alarm, motion detector lighting; in appropriate areas

car park and outdoor lighting by twilight sensor; data wiring, telephony, and cable television (satellite dishes), monitoring by cameras and intercom devices.
